Repelling mosquitoes, gnats and horseflies

Repelling mosquitoes, gnats and horseflies is an urgent problem both in agricultural livestock farming and for our favourite pets cats and dogs.

In agricultural livestock farming it is connected with many diseases carried by two-winged insects (hypodermatosis, teliasiasis, crivelliosis, gastrophilosis, oestrosis, etc.), because of such diseases the productivity of animals and the quality of raw materials (leather, fur) are reduced
In agriculture the group method of treatment of animals with complex preparations, which have insectoacaricidal and long-term repellent effect, is often used. At the moment, preparations based on cyfluthrin are favoured.

For pets, the danger is mainly caused by mosquitoes, which are carriers of such a dangerous disease as dirofilariasis (heartworm). Every year the tendency for this disease is increasing not only in typically southern regions, but also increasingly registered in the middle zone of the Russian Federation. For pets today there are not so many preparations that have a repellent effect. These are mainly complex insectoacaricidal preparations that combine a short-lasting repellent effect.

For the prevention of dirofilariosis, preparations based on moxidectin are used, which destroy the larvae of dirofilariae, preventing them from migrating to the heart and becoming sexually mature.
