Entomoses
12
Entomoses (entoma-insect) are diseases caused by parasitic insects and their larvae on the host body or in internal organs and systems.
Entomoses of ruminants
Ruminant entomoses include the diseases described below.
Gadfly diseases
Gadfly diseases are caused by the larvae of the gadfly, which, depending on their localisation in the animal's body, are distinguished into the subcutaneous family Hypodermatidae and the gastric family Gasterophilidae. These parasites cause the following diseases:
Hypodermatosis,
edemagenesis,
oestrosis,
crivelliosis,
cephenomyosis,
pharyngomyosis,
cephalopinosis.
Prevention of entomosis caused by gadflies is the use of repellent preparations and timely deworming of animals.
Diseases caused by ectoparasites:
bovicoleases (viroid, hairworms),
melophagosis (sheep fleece),
lipoptenosis (deer bloodsucker, moose louse),
siphunculatosis (lice).
Prevention of diseases by ectoparasites is regular treatment of animals and premises with insecticidal and insectoacaricidal preparations.
Entomoses of ungulates, pigs and birds
Entomoses of ungulates, pigs and birds include:
Gadfly diseases:
- Gastrophilosis
- Rhinasterosis
Diseases caused by ectoparasites:
- Hippoboscosis (bloodsucker)
- Haematopinosis (lice)
- Bovicolosis (lice)
- Mallophagosis (puff-eaters, feather-eaters).
Prevention of these entomoses is timely treatment of animals and premises with insecticidal and insectoacaricidal preparations, as well as regular deworming of animals.
Carnivore entomoses
Carnivore entomoses include:
- Aphanipterosis (flea infestation)
- Linognathosis (lice infestation)
- Trichodectosis (flea beetles)
Insectocaricidal preparations are used for prophylaxis of entomoses in carnivores. For pets, preparations based on fipronil, thiamethoxam and some other modern substances in various forms of release (drops, collars, sprays) are more often used.
Entomoses of bees
There are entomoses of bees:
braulosis,
meleosis,
cenotainiosis,
conopidosis.
Entomoses of ruminants
