Characteristics
Drug for treatment of bacterial infections in cattle and pigs
Ceftiosan Forte is administered to cattle and pigs for treatment of infectious diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory airway
diseases, urogenital system, joints, soft tissues and skin, necrobacillosis, postnatal metritis and bacterial infections caused by pathogens sensitive to ceftiofur.
Ceftiofuric acid — 200 mg/ml, excipients up to 1 ml.
Ceftiosan Forte is injected as follows:
• to cattle — as a single dose subcutaneously into the ear base at 1 ml per 30 kg of animal body weight (equivalent to 6.6 mg ceftiofur per 1 kg of animal body weight).
• pigs — as a single dose intramuscularly at 1 ml per 40 kg of animal body weight (equivalent to 5 mg ceftiofur per 1 kg of animal body weight).
The maximum amount of the drug to be injected into one injection site may not exceed 30 ml.
Slaughter of cattle for meat is allowed no earlier than 20 days, pigs – no earlier than 71 days following the most recent drug
administration. Meat of animals that had to be slaughtered before the expiry of the aforesaid time periods may be used as
feed for furbearing animals or meat and bone meal production. Milk from milking cows may be used for food purposes without any
restrictions.
Contraindications to the use of the drug include the animal’s individual hypersensitivity to the drug components and β-lactam
antibiotics.
The drug should be stored sealed in the manufacturer packaging, protected from direct sunlight and kept separate from food
products and feeds at temperatures between 2 ºС and +25 ºС.
The drug has a shelf life of 3 years from the date of manufacture, provided that the storage conditions are met at all times, and 28
days once the bottle is opened.
