Drug for the treatment of bacterial diseases in animals
Gentam is administered to horses, cattle, sheep and pigs for treatment for infectious diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory airways, genitourinary system, joints, soft tissues and skin, necrobacteriosis, umbilical infections, atrophic rhinitis, mastitis-metritis-agalactia syndrome and other bacterial infections caused by pathogens sensitive to amoxicillin and gentamicin.
Amoxicillin trihydrate — 150 mg/ml, gentamicin sulfate — 40 mg/ml, excipients up to 1 ml.
Gentam is administered to animals subcutaneously or intramuscularly as a single dose at 1 ml per 10 kg of animal body weight (15 mg of amoxicillin and 4 mg of gentamicin per 1 kg of animal body weight).
The duration of the treatment course, depending on the severity of the animal’s condition, is 2 to 5 days, as determined by the attending veterinarian.
The maximum amount of the drug to be injected into one injection site may not exceed 20 ml for cattle and horses, 10 ml for pigs, sheep and calves, 5 ml for piglets.
The bottle containing the suspension should be shaken well before each use.
Contraindications to the use of Gentam include the animal’s individual hypersensitivity to aminoglycosides and beta-lactam
antibiotics (including from past medical history), severe renal failure involving azotemia and uremia, auditory nerve neuritis, myasthenia.
Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed no earlier than 30 days following the most recent administration of Gentam. Meat of
animals that had to be slaughtered before the expiry of the time periods specified may be used as feed for fur-bearing animals.
Milk from milking animals may be used for food purposes no earlier than 48 hours after the most recent drug administration. Milk
obtained before the time period specified may be used for animal feed after boiling.
The drug should be stored sealed in the manufacturer packaging, protected from direct sunlight and kept separate from food
products and feeds at temperatures between +5°С and +25°С.
