Analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic drug for cattle, horses and pigs
Fluniject is administered to cattle, horses and pigs as an antiinflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic drug used as part of combined therapy for respiratory, ophthalmologic, obstetric and gynecologic diseases, musculoskeletal diseases and other pathologies accompanied by acute inflammatory processes as well as pain syndromes and hyperthermia of various etiologies.
Flunixin meglumine — 83 mg (equivalent to 50 mg of flunixin) and excipients up to 1 ml.
Fluniject is administered to animals parenterally once daily:
• to cattle – for respiratory, obstetrical and gynecologic diseases and other pathologies accompanied by acute inflammatory processes intravenously or intramuscularly at 2 ml per 45 kg of animal body
weight (2.2 mg flunixin/kg) until the clinical status improves, but no more than 5 consecutive injections;
• to pigs – for respiratory, obstetrical and gynecologic diseases, MMA-syndrome intramuscularly into the neck area as a single dose at 2 ml per 45 kg of animal body weight (2.2 mg flunixin/kg); if necessary, one more injection may be given after 24 hours;
• to horses, the drug is administered intravenously:
- for musculoskeletal diseases at 1 ml per 45 kg of animal body weight (1.1 mg flunixin/kg) once daily until the clinical status improves, but no more than 5 consecutive injections;
- for relief of colic pain syndrome at 1 ml per 45 kg weight (1.1 mg/kg flunixin) as a single dose; if necessary, one more injection may be given after 24 hours;
- for endotoxemia, septic shock and other pathologies associated with blood circulation disorders in the gastrointestinal tract and as a antipyretic drug in case of bacterial and viral infections and after
surgical interventions – 0.2 ml per 45 kg of weight (0.22 mg of flunixin/kg) every 6 to 8 hours until the clinical status improves, but no more than 3 consecutive injections.
As the drug may cause a pain response, it should not be injected to large animals into one injection site in amounts exceeding 5 ml and to small animals in amounts exceeding 2.5 ml.
Contraindications to use of the drug include the animal’s hypersensitivity to the drug components, gastric and duodenal
ulcer, hemorrhagic syndrome, acute renal, hepatic, cardiac failure, hypovolemia (except for endotoxemia or septic shock).
The drug should NOT be administered by intra-aortic route or used for cats.
Slaughter of animals for meat following the most recent administration of Fluniject is allowed no earlier than: for pigs — 24 days, for horses – 8 days, for cattle if administered intravenously — 8 days and if administered intramuscularly — 35 days. Meat of animals that had to be slaughtered before the expiry of the aforesaid time periods may be used as feed for fur-bearing animals.
Milk from milking animals may be used for food purposes no earlier than 60 hours following the most recent drug administration. Milk
obtained before the expiry of the aforesaid period may be used may be used to feed animals after heat treatment.
The drug should be stored sealed in the manufacturer packaging, protected from direct sunlight and kept separate from food
products and feeds at temperatures between +5°С and +25°С.
The drug has a shelf life of 3 years from the date of manufacture, provided that the storage conditions are met at all times, and 28
days once the bottle is opened.
