Drug for minimizing sedative and analgesic effects of alpha-2 agonists in dogs and cats
Antimedin is used to minimize sedative and analgesic effects of α2- agonists in dogs and cats, and if necessary, to minimize side effects of α2-agonists on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Antimedin is administered 15 to 60 minutes after α2-agonists.
The sedative effect of medetomidine or dexmedetomidine is normally neutralized within 5 to 10 minutes.
Atipamezole hydrochloride — 5 mg/ml, excipients up to 1 ml.
Antimedin should be administered to animals intramuscularly as a single dose.
If the animal’s depressed condition persists, Antimedin can be readministered after 10 to 15 minutes.
Dosage:
- for dogs, Antimedin dose in ml is equal to the medetomidine dose being administered.
- For cats, Antimedin dose in ml is equal to half of the medetomidine dose being administered.
The drug should be stored sealed in the manufacturer packaging, protected from direct sunlight and kept separate from food
products and feeds at temperatures between +5 ºС and +25 ºС.
Contraindication to use of the drug include heart failure, hepatic or renal disorders. Antimedin should not be used to eliminate the
effects of other sedatives.
The drug has a shelf life of 3 years from the date of manufacture, provided that the storage conditions are met at all times, and 30
days once the bottle is opened.
